Visit the Art Lovers Australia Gallery to See Exclusive New Artworks

As you may know, Smith & Brooks have been stockroom artists in the Art Lovers Australia Gallery in Collingwood, Melbourne for the duration of 2024.  Collingwood is considered the heart of the Melbourne art scene and the perfect location for art collectors to view and experience original artworks. The Art Lovers Australia Gallery not only hosts regular group exhibitions but also represents an array of artists including Smith & Brooks making it one of the best stops for those looking to buy their next piece of art. So as you can imagine, having our art shown in such an incredible space in this wonderful creative hub in Melbourne feels pretty amazing!

We have recently sent in three new artworks that are now up and on display thanks to the fabulous gallery curator, Taya Matheson. Our new works are surrounded by some pretty awesome artists – Melbourne abstract artist Jacquelyn Stephens to the left and pop artist Franko who works out of The Scenic Rim to the right. And our abstract Australian landscapes are situated right in the middle of these two incredible artists making us feel pretty darn proud!

We selected three works from our Southern Melody collection to send down to Melbourne including ‘Blackbutt Moment II’. This work features an interpretation of the iconic blackbutt gum or eucalyptus pilularis on a 76cm x 76cm canvas framed in a beautiful oak float frame. Its colour palette is made up of deep woody hues with smooth creamy tones and was inspired by those found in the blackbutt forest areas. Jacky grew up in the Sydney region around these beautiful gums which have since become a symbol of her childhood holidays along the Hawkesbury River.

Mountain Ash Moment II’ is also currently on show at the Art Lovers Australia Gallery in Melbourne. This smaller work features the tallest flowering tree in the world, the mountain ash gum tree or eucalyptus regnans which is found in Victoria through to the deep Tasmanian forests. ‘Mountain Ash Moment II’ is a 60cm x 50cm acrylic on canvas work, framed in oak. Its colour palette has been drawn from the dry Australian landscape and consists of calming yellow and red tones highlighted with eucalypt greens. This towering gum tree symbolises travel and time spent with family and friends for Jacky who lived in the region during her years of study.

Our final new artwork that is now on show at the Melbourne gallery is ‘Golden Wattle Moment I’. This stunning abstract landscape work is 76cm x 100cm and is float framed in oak. Earlier in the year we started working on wattles both locally found here in South East Queensland and those found further abroad and chose to investigate Australia’s national floral emblem, the golden wattle or acacia pycnantha. This incredible Australian native is found from the Eyre Peninsula to the Flinders Ranges and is spectacular during its flowering period which occurs in late winter. This work has been created with a palette of creamy tones, deep charcoals, desaturated blues and light blush inspired by the Australian landscape.

These original artworks are all exclusive to Art Lovers Australia and are on show now in Melbourne. You can visit the Collingwood gallery from Tuesday to Saturday and see these gorgeous Smith & Brooks pieces in person. Alternatively, you can find them online on the Art Lovers Australia website. But to be honest, if you are anywhere near the Melbourne area we suggest you go and view these pieces in person at the gallery. Not only will you be able to immerse yourself in our artworks, you will be able to experience the brand new ‘Salon’ exhibition which opens from the 1st of November and features over 50 artists making it the perfect place to buy that new piece of art for your home!
